City of Phoenix and Rep. Ruben Gallego extend personal protective equipment drive

This is very necessary for our medical system. As well as our firefighters, as well as out police officers and EMT's who have to interact with people everyday said Gallego.

Any amount of supplies is welcome from just a couple of masks to many. As well, donations don't need to be recently purchased.

She says, "I know how hard it is and I know how Phoenix News last-minute this all is but the more people that can give and the more help we can provide for each other, the better we are as a society."

The drive will be open every day at the Phoenix Convention Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Saturday, March 28.
The City of Phoenix and Representative Ruben Gallego extend their personal protective equipment (PPE) drive at the Phoenix Convention Center through Saturday.

Representative Gallego coordinated the effort with the City of Phoenix, Phoenix Fire and Phoenix Police in hopes of replenishing the low supply of PPE like masks, eye protection and more in Arizona.
There's no social distancing or working remotely for the firefighters at Chandler Fire Station 283.

Job closures due to coronavirus don't affect the Valley's first Press Release Distribution Services In Phoenix responders who are still on the call when needed.

"Still here doing our job," said firefighter Natalie Wood. "We knew what we were doing when we got into this job. We love doing it. Things haven't changed in that regard."

Chandler firefighters haven't changed much to their routine during the coronavirus pandemic, however, they have taken extra sanitation precautions when going out on calls.

"Maintaining our hygiene standards with a little more hygiene standards," said firefighter Nicholas Del Valle. "Where a mask and gowns and gloves, a little more than normal than we would wear."

Chandler Fire Station 283 only has about seven people at the station at any given time, so the crew isn't too worried about social distancing.
